The 2006 Ford Expedition is the final year to implement the Ford U Platform in the Expedition, but by no means has it been forgotten. This generation of the Ford Expedition comes standard with the 5.4L V-8 24-Valve Single-Over-Head-Cam engine producing 300HP and 365FTLB of torque; this engine is the standard engine across all models.
The 2006 Ford Expedition continues to utilize a 4-speed automatic transmission mated with either a rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive system sitting on 119” wheel-base tires along with the optional AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control System for maximum traction and safety. The EPA has estimated the Expedition to attain 14mpg in the city and 19mpg on the highway with the rear-wheel-drive platform, while the four-wheel-drive system is slightly lowered to 17mpg on the highway.
